Dear Families,

Dear Families,

Welcome home.

I am so happy you are here. This space was made for you and your family. So, come in, have fun, and make yourself comfortable.

My name is Yamkela Khoza Tywakadi, founder and CEO of Blank Page Books (our mother company) and LULO Africa (this colourful family space you are in).

A little bit about me.

I grew up in a home where money was never part of the conversation. Financial education just was not something we spoke about. Like many South Africans, I learned about money through the hard lessons of life – mistakes, missteps, and many “if only I had known” moments. I often wished I had learned about money earlier, when it could have made a real difference in how I handled my finances.

Years later, as a parent, I looked at my children and thought, “How can I make sure they do not go through the same?” I wanted them to have the tools I never had. That moment was the spark that started LULO Africa.

LULO Africa began with a series of books designed to teach financial literacy in a way that feels fun, relatable, and easy to understand. But it has grown into so much more than that. We imagine a world where families – parents, children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins – learn together, play together, and talk about money in ways that feel natural and exciting.

Here, financial education meets storytelling, games, colour, and joy. Because learning about money should not make anyone yawn, it should make families smile, think, and grow together.

We started with books, but this is only the beginning. Our dream is for LULO Africa to grow into a hub for cartoons, interactive toys, and playful merchandise that spark conversations about money at home. We want to make financial literacy something families look forward to exploring together.

Starting early makes all the difference. When children grow up seeing and understanding how money works, they step into adulthood with confidence. And when families learn together, something beautiful happens: those lessons turn into memories.

LULO Africa is part of Blank Page Books, but we wanted it to have its own heartbeat – a bright, playful, beautiful space where families can find stories, games, and tools that make learning fun. Even if you are not looking for financial education, just spending time here – reading, playing, and exploring – builds something powerful in your children: curiosity, creativity, and financial confidence.

So welcome. Stay a while. Explore, laugh, get a book or five, and learn with your family. Let LULO Africa be the place where imagination and money smarts grow side by side.
